Amtrak’s Gulf Coast comeback sparks Southeast rail boom
At any given moment on any given day, New Orleans is a bold and boisterous cacophony of Louisiana living. There are hoots and hollers from raucous tourists on Bourbon Street, for example. There’s the ubiquitous sloshing of bright red hurricanes in curvaceous cocktail glasses, the sizzling of beignets in fryers and the bubbling of boiling crawfish on stovetops. There are dings from streetcars on Canal Street, chimes from slot machines at Caesars New Orleans Hotel & Casino, and celebratory symphonies from innumerable trumpets on countless stages and streetcorners.
