“Where Creativity Blooms”: Mississippi’s Artistic Legacy Rolls into Pasadena
Jackson, MS — Visit Mississippi is proud to announce its participation in the 2026 Tournament of Roses Parade with a vibrant float titled “Mississippi: Where Creativity Blooms.” This visual symphony will celebrate the state’s rich artistic legacy.
Set to roll down Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena, CA, on January 1, the float—designed and fabricated by Artistic Entertainment Services of Pasadena—will highlight Mississippi’s deep cultural roots and creative spirit. From blues to country, literature to ballet, the float will showcase the many creatives who have shaped Mississippi’s identity and influenced the world.
The centerpiece of “Mississippi: Where Creativity Blooms” will feature Kermit the Frog, representing Mississippian Jim Henson’s Muppets. Adding to the artistic flair, Mississippi native and country music star Charlie Worsham will perform live on the float, accompanied by dancers, bringing the state’s artistic excellence to life.
The float’s stage will be wrapped in artwork inspired by Walter Anderson, adding a whimsical and colorful touch. Directional signage will symbolically point viewers toward places across Mississippi that honor and inspire creativity. Books stacked atop the float will symbolize Mississippi’s contributions to the visual, musical, literary, and cinematic arts, adorned with iconic book covers from works by Mississippi authors Jesmyn Ward, Tennessee Williams, Willie Morris, William Faulkner, Eudora Welty, and Greg Iles.
“We’re thrilled to showcase Mississippi’s creative heartbeat on a global stage,” said Visit Mississippi Executive Director Rochelle Hicks. “This float is more than a celebration — it’s a tribute to the artists, musicians, and storytellers who continue to inspire generations.”
