Mayflower Cafe
The Mayflower Café is the oldest operating restaurant in the capital city, first serving customers in 1935. The restaurant is famous for its classic, Greek-inspired seafood and steak menu, which has been passed down through generations of the Kountouris family. The Mayflower’s house salad dressing was called by Maxim magazine “the nation’s number one condiment”*” and was featured on Food Network’s “The Best Thing I Ever Ate.” The restaurant was also featured in two movies – the Alec Baldwin film Ghosts of Mississippi and, most recently, The Help.
