Grand Bay National Wildlife Refuge

Established in 1992, Grand Bay National Wildlife Refuge preserves one of the largest expanses of undisturbed pine savanna habitats in the Gulf Coastal Plain region. In addition to the wet pine savanna, other refuge habitats include maritime forest, tidal and non-tidal wetlands, salt marshes, salt pans, bays and bayous. The 10,188-acre refuge is located in coastal areas of both Mississippi and Alabama and partially overlays the Grand Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. The refuge is part of the National Wildlife Refuge system.
