The Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum was established in 1986 to preserve and interpret the maritime history and heritage of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The recently completed museum accomplishes this mission through an array of exhibits, artifacts and an extraordinary collection of photographs which tell the story from the time of the first Indian settlement through generations of immigrants whose journey contributed to the melting-pot culture of the Gulf Coast. Open Monday-Saturday 9-4:30pm and Sunday Noon-4pm gift shop available.

The Gateway to the Blues Museum and Visitors Center on Highway 61 is the first place many people see when they roll into Tunica. This rustic train depot, circa 1895, is a must-stop for travelers before and after a visit to Tunica. Inside, travel counselors are ready to give directions, advice and the latest information about events, restaurants and attractions. They can even help book you a hotel room, make dinner reservations or find you a perfect, one-of-a-kind souvenir in the gift store.

The Visitors Center is home to the Gateway to the Blues Museum. This must-see attraction for all music lovers, will tell the remarkable story of how The Blues was born and the role Tunica played in building the genre’s legacy.

Admission – $10 Adults, $5 Children.

An aquarium housing over 200 species of native fish, reptiles and amphibians tells an ecological story of rivers, streams, lakes, marshes and the Mississippi Sound. “The Swamp” is home to animals including alligators, turtles and fish surrounded by native foliage. The 300-acre nature area with native foliage is great for birding or a stroll over the 2.5-mile nature trail with interpretive stops along the way.

The Museum of Mississippi History encourages people to explore more than 15,000 years of state history. Throughout the galleries, visitors will explore interactive exhibits, see engaging artifacts and hear stories from people who shaped the state. The museum’s theme—One Mississippi, Many Stories—runs throughout galleries that include a 500-year-old Native American dugout canoe discovered submerged in mud on the bank of a Mississippi lake, author Eudora Welty’s manual typewriter and a recreated Delta juke joint that hops to the sounds of Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf and Bo Diddley.
