Jones Park
Jones Park is a 60-acre park/harbor facility that offers a 319 slip marina and promenade walk, marina services building, pavilion, educational plaza, splash pad and playground area, replica lighthouse, amphitheater stage, walking track, and fuel/bait shop. The park is named after Joseph T. Jones, an American entrepreneur who funded the construction of the Gulf and Ship Island Railroad in Mississippi, co-founded the City of Gulfport and developed its seaport. A 40,000 ship anchor donated by the Seabees is located in the center of a roundabout near the Barksdale Pavilion. The park is the site of the Gulfport Harbor Lights Festival, an annual event held during the Christmas season.
